Scheduleworld and Google Calendar Synchronization works two-ways

August 13th, 2006

I claimed earlier, that Calendar synchronization between Google Calendar and Scheduleworld only works one way. But yesterday I read in \\Engtechs very nice guide to synchronization that it works two-ways, consequences were: I had to try again.
At first my results were the same as reported earlier, none of the appointments I had in Scheduleworld would appear in Google Calendar. This however changed when I made a completely new appointment in Scheduleworld which appeared in Google Calendar after a sync. The entire problem was solved by adding a hyphen to all my appointments – and suddenly they all appeared in Google Calendar.
This goes to show two points. First of all, that two-synchronization actually works between the two, making it possible to use Scheduleworld as a middleman for synchronization between Google Calendar and any SynML compatible device, like a cell phone. Second, that this service (in beta) has some weaknesses at the present, making it possible for some appointments to be left out.

I seem to be having the same problem. I can’t figure out where to put the private XML URL in Scheduleworld. That guide is helpful, but only instructs “Cut and paste your modified Google Calendar URL into the correct text input box at ScheduleWorld.”

Where is that? I’ve noticed the preferences page seems to have changed since that guide was published.

    Thanks!

    Hi Greg

Thanks for your comment. You are absolutely right, they have changed how you setup Google Calendar Synchronization.
You don’t need to xml address anymore. Just put in the email address you use as login, and your password and press “find calendars”. Very user friendly.

    Hi folks,

I signed up for the ScheduleWorld service some days ago and just one day later I have to notice that someone got unauthorized access to my ScheduleWorld account via syncML. I realized that due to the fact that a new SyncML Device has been added to the list in the preferences section:

This is the original reference in the preferences:
    “SyncML Device IMEI:0E….65BB8BEF5 ( Auto-added ) :”

As you might see above the device is a mobile phone.

This person must have known my password and account ID … but …
    – neither have I told anyone that I have this new account
    – nor have I synced it via a mobile phone cause I haven’t any mobile phone!

I am really upset and concerned about this!

I requested a comment/statement from the ScheduleWorld team via a prior posting in the forum with the consequence that my posting has been just deleted. No comment, no statement from the ScheduleWorld’s side! And this makes me really concerned!

So dear users it’s up to you to make up your own opinion about this security issue!

    Hi all,

I have posted 3 times in the ScheduleWorld forum with security critical questions, e.g. requesting more details of the company “ScheduleWorld”. in my opinion a simple imprint would be fine and a min. requirement.

Consequence was that my postings has been deleted every time and my account has been also deleted.

Is this normal?! This seems not really trustworthy to me :-(

[...] Some time ago Tech Tag received two very critical comments on two posts about Scheduleworld (post 1, post2). Then a few weeks later the pattern repeated it self. Two identical comments where posted on the same two post, but from a different IP. [...]

I believe the posts are from the same person - a troll who wants to damage ScheduleWorld. likely a competitor…
If you look at the ScheduleWorld forums you’ll see that anything is pretty much up for discussion and you’ll see helpful considerate responses - even to embarassing questions related to bugs and service uptime.

I guess you know you’ve made it when the professional trolls come out of the woodwork.

    Cheers.
