First lesson learned!
October 2nd, 2006
I got inspired by Shoemoneys post on the link experiment. He asked if this was the next million dollar idea. Since he is “Mr. Money” I joined the hype and bought a ten dollar link. What I got was three days on the main page and five refferals.
My logic was that either this hype would not start, and I would have a permanent link on the main page. Or the hype would take of and sub-page with all the old links would get loads of traffic. So fare my logic has failed completely, I’m off the main page and is getting no traffic at all from the sub-page.

Hello,
I also purchased a link on http://www.linkexperiment.com. However, I was lucky and purchased mine back in August before his site really took off. I paid $70 for the top link at the time. My site is now #18. I am not getting many hits from my link lately, but prior to Shoemoney’s post on Link Experiment, where I was on the Top 3 I was getting a ton of traffic from my link. I conclude that you need to be one of the top links, preferably #1, to get a lot of traffic from Link Experiment.

Hi
I think you are pointing at an other flaw in my logic. Just being on the page is not enough, and being on the past link page gives nothing at all.

Google search results are the same, you really need to be in the top three results, unless the first results are useless in which case you can be further down.

I bought my link in mid November, and while I got some traffic, there were no sales from it. Maybe that will change in the future…but as I get pushed lower down the page, I don’t like my chances.
I guess it also depends on what you hope the traffic will do..buy a product from you…click on ads…sign up for a newsletter etc.
